Maintaining Your Home
Buying a new home is the largest and possibly best investment most Americans will ever make. Proper maintenance of your new home will minimize the major repairs over time and increase your enjoyment of your home. With the help of many skilled craftspeople, Your Home has pieced together a complex puzzle of elements that make up your completed home. As part of this process, we have prepared the site; laid the foundation; framed the structure of the house; installed the plumbing, heating, and electrical systems; completed the interior and exterior finish; and landscaped the site. Here are some good tips for home maintenance:
On a Monthly Basis:
*Clean or replace air conditioning filters.
*Inspect, clean or replace kitchen vent hood filters.
*Flush all toilets and run water through all sinks, especially in bathrooms that are not used on a regular basis.
On a Quarterly Basis:
*Inspect and adjust all sprinkler systems.
*Inspect and repair all caulked areas, as necessary.
*Check your GFIs for proper operations by tripping the circuit interrupter buttons and resetting them.
On a Yearly Basis:
*Drain and refill your hot water heater.
*Inspect and test your hot water heater safety valve.
*Inspect your garage doors and adjust and lubricate, as necessary.
*Clean your faucet aerators and inspect your plumbing for leaks.
*Replace smoke detector batteries.
